Hi there! I’m Karthika Shyamrao – an Electrical Engineer by qualification, but a creator at heart.
I have an engineering degree, but I have always been drawn to more creative and expressive pursuits out of excitement. Over the years, I have experimented with a variety of creative techniques to achieve my aims and materialise my ideas.
Cartoon illustration adds a light touch to my portfolio, content writing is a talent I’ve learned and truly enjoy, and drawing is a favourite hobby. In addition to these projects, I make logos, illustrate children’s books, and work on 2d designs, all of which provide me new opportunities to visually tell stories. Above all, I am on a mission to become a professional in 3d animation, blending technology and art.
This space is a reflection of my creative journey – a place to share my work, my passion, and everything in between. Thanks for stopping by – I’m glad you’re here
My creative journey:
It all started in 2023. One afternoon, while relaxing on the sofa, a thought struck me—why not venture into something creative? I had no grand plan, just a quiet hope that these early steps might one day blossom into the career of my dreams. I’m still on that journey, but determined as ever to see where it leads.
I started by scribbling some rough ideas in a notebook. My husband, a tech enthusiast with a sharp mind for software, happened to be around, and we began chatting about my little project. He suggested I try out a few of the free digital tools available—something to bring my doodles to life on screen and explore ways of sharing my work with a wider audience.
Excited by the possibilities, I dived in. To help me practise, he set me a few mock projects. I created a range of logo concepts, refined them based on his feedback, and after much tweaking and experimenting, finalised the designs.
Tools I learnt:
Initially, I started with a free tool called Inkscape, which gave me a solid introduction. After that, I moved on to Affinity for a few of my projects. Eventually, I explored Adobe’s Creative Suite and completed most of my work using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Unfortunately, I had to step away for about six months due to other commitments. Once I was back, I decided to dive into Blender – a powerful piece of software. I learned it through a variety of resources, including YouTube videos, short tutorials, and some paid courses online. I quickly developed a real passion for it, and now I use Blender for all my creative work, both in 2D and 3D. I absolutely love it!
My hobbies:
In my free time, I really like doing hand-made arts and crafts using bits and pieces that we find around the house or easily available in local shops. I get my children involved with fun and creative projects, encouraging them to share their own ideas too. It’s a lovely way for us to spend time together and be creative as a family.
